 3.    "There is nothing mysterious about prayer"- Who is the speaker? What did the speaker tell about the relevance of prayers?

Ans: - Here the speaker is Jainulabdeen, the father of APJ Abdul Kalam.
When APJ Abdul Kalam was old enough to ask the question, he asked his father about the relevance of prayer. In reply to this query, Kalam's father said that there was nothing mysterious about prayers. He said that prayer was only a means of communion of the spirit of people. He also claimed that through prayer man could go beyond his earthly existence and could become a part of the cosmos. The cosmos knows no division. Thus Kalam's father justified the relevance of prayers.

 4.    "Why don't you say this to the people...?"- Who said this and to whom? What was the answer to this question?

Ans: - In Kalam's short story "Strong Roots", young Kalam asked this question to his father Jainulabdeen.

When Kalam asked this question to his father, his father said that as a natural rule of co-existence human beings find company every time, when they felt alone or faced trouble or reached an impasse. He also said that the people who came to him in distress, he was but a go-between in their effort to propitiate demonic forces with prayers and offerings. But he said this approach was not correct and this approach should never be followed. He also said one must understand the difference between a fear-ridden vision of destiny and the vision that enables him to seek the enemy of fulfilment within himself.
