Ans: - In Langston Hughes' short story 'Thank You Ma'am', Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones said this to a teen-age boy Roger.
By the above-mentioned line, Mrs. Jones wanted to say that anything achieved by the wrong way would ultimately hurt. Here, she meant that if Roger would have bought his shoes by stealing money, it would turn him into a thief in the future and would bring harm to him.
This statement revealed the innate goodness of Mrs. Jones. She would have sent Roger to jail. But she did not do so rather like a mother she thought Roger "right from the wrong"
