 1.        Justification of the title of the poem "The Poetry of Earth".

Ans: -  Unlike other poets, John Keats has celebrated the beauty of nature using auditory imagery in his poem “The Poetry of Earth”. Here ‘poetry of earth’ signifies the music of the earth. Keats describes every natural sound, like the chirpings of birds, small insects, animals, etc. In this poem, Keats claims that the music of the earth continues in one way or another and it never stops. When the birds take rest being tired due to the hot weather of summer and stop singing, the grasshopper takes lead and continues the music of earth or in other words ‘the poetry of earth’. And in winter it is ‘cricket’ who carries on this job which resembles the grasshopper in summer. By comparing the grasshopper in summer with the cricket in winter as the same, the poet intends to speak of the whole year. Thus it will be just to say that the entire poem revolves around only one theme that is ‘the poetry of earth’. Therefore, in keeping with this, it can be said that the naming has been justified.

 2.        Write down the substance of the poem "The Poetry of Earth".

Ans: - In the poem “The Poetry of Earth” John Keats celebrates one of the beautiful aspects of nature- the music. Throughout the poem, John Keats has claimed that this music of nature or the poetry of earth is never to have a stop. In the octave, the poet describes how this ‘poetry of earth’ keeps going on in summer. He says that when the birds get tired in the heat of the sun it is the little grasshopper “from hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead” takes the responsibility of carrying on ‘the poetry of earth’. In the last part of the poem written in the form of the sestet, the poet mentions the ‘cricket’ calling from near the ‘stove’ breaking the silence wrought by the frost, and thus it continues the music of the earth. Thus ‘the poetry of earth’ continues in one form or other and never ceases.
